Wellness Tips

  • Disease risk rises significantly with a waist circumference of more than 35 inches in women and more than 40 inches in men.
  • Hunger is the physiological need for food and appetite is the psychological desire for food.  Appetite may be stimulated in response to sight, smell, or thought of food even when you’re not hungry.  So if your appetite is leading you to food make smart choices.
  • For shiftworkers, eating during evening & night hours requires special considerations.  Our stomachs’ daily rhythm is not “set” for digestion at night.  The digestive system is relatively inactive at night.  This doesn’t mean you have to give up eating when you work this type of schedule, you may just need to adjust what you eat & the quantity to avoid gastrointestinal illnesses.
